The 'salt' of a great conference talk

As you might know, I am a frequest “public speaker”, or presenter, for Amazon.com, and in the last 32 months or so I spoke/keynoted at more than 280 events in four continents (they will become five in late April, when I’ll be keynoting in Brazilia, my first visit to South America). This also means that I’ve seen THOUSANDS of other people give talks and keynotes and such, in front of many diverse audiences. ... Read more

A Sakura story

I really like Lynn’s Blog, A Sakura Story. Lots of pictures, comments, thoughts, on how it is to live in Singapore, and visit nearby countries. Very cool read. I also like that she’s often involved with volunteer work, and that’s admirable. During her stay in Nepal, for eight days Lisa and I took care of three lovely kittens (one of the many other volunteer things that Lynn does), which will soon be adopted by some lucky person in Singapore. ... 'Scam: US Diversity Visa Lottery Program. Who is Ian Baird from London, UK?'

I received an email, few days ago. A clear scam, to me. The letter says that I won a Permanent Resident Visa for the United States, and that I have to pay 680 USD to a certain Ian Baird from London, UK. Below you can see the full text of the email. So far, only at Amazon, I “collected” more than 270 events where I presented or keynoted. A fantastic experience. ... Read more

'Fredrik Härén: being a great speaker'

Few days ago I attended a very interesting event here in Singapore, organized by Asia Professional Speakers Singapore. Among others, there was my friend Fredrik Härén, talking about how to make a million Singapore dollars a year, plus find two months to write a book. Very interesting talk, which was all about being a great speaker, even before the “money” part. This is Fredrik’s advice: 1) Repeat yourself: do few speeches, and do them often, so you get great at them. ... Read more
